A program designed to help families take a few days or a few weeks away from the stress of caring for an older loved one or person with disabilities.
The Area Agency on Aging 1-B is dedicated to helping family caregivers care for their older loved one. One very beneficial program offered through the AAA 1-B is our Out of Home Respite program. This program is designed to assist family caregivers residing in Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw counties by providing 24 hour care for their older or disabled loved one for an extended period of time at a licensed Adult Foster Care Home or Homes for the Aged.
This program gives caregivers the opportunity to plan a vacation, take care of their own health needs or simply relax at home while knowing their loved one is safe and receiving proper care. The program can serve persons with dementia.
Caregivers are able to make advance reservations for their loved ones for up to two weeks at a time, twice a year. Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Caregivers using the program are asked to help cover the program costs based on a sliding income scale.
